With Easter coming up, I’ve been thinking again about who Jesus is.
For many of us, Easter is something we’re familiar with, whether through school, family, or just part of the culture. But it got me wondering – not just about Easter, but about who Jesus actually claimed to be.
Most people would probably say Jesus was a good person, a teacher, or someone who had a positive influence on history. But when you look at the accounts of His life in the Bible, He seems to be claiming something much bigger than that. Continue reading

Christmas is a time to celebrate an incredible event. It is incomprehensible that the creator of the entire universe was born as a human baby. As I reflect on what was accomplished through the birth and death of Jesus, and my own moral condition, I am left wondering about why good things happen to bad people.

And the city has no need of the sun or of the moon to shine upon it,
for the glory of God has illumined it, and its lamp is the Lamb.

Does “no need” for the sun and moon mean that they will be gone?

But the day of the Lord will come like a thief,
in which the heavens will pass away with a roar
and the elements will be destroyed with intense heat,
and the earth and its works will be burned up.
2 Peter 3: 10
The Bible gives us some details on how the current heavens and earth will come to an end. God is keeping watch so that things end on His terms and not because of our actions. If everything is to be destroyed in this way, then how should we respond?
Of old You founded the earth,
And the heavens are the work of your hands.
Even they will perish, but You endure;
And all of them will wear out like a garment;
Like clothing You will change them and they will be changed.
Psalm 102:25-26
The current earth and heavens will come to an end. God will change them like a garment.
Remember also your Creator in the days of your youth,
before the evil days come and the years draw near
when you will say, “I have no delight in them”;
before the sun, the light, the moon, and the stars are darkened,
and clouds return after the rain;
Ecclesiastes 12:1-2
The “evil days” in this passage seem to describe the end-times. The clear command relating to this is to remember your Creator before they come.
And the light of the moon will be as the light of the sun,
and the light of the sun will be seven times brighter,
like the light of seven days,
on the day the Lord binds up the fracture of His people
and heals the bruise He has inflicted.
Isaiah 30:26
In end-time passages it is common to see the sun and moon not shining as bright and sometimes changing colour. So this passage goes against that trend. Let’s take a closer look at the context. Is the moon’s reflectivity around one seventh, as this passage suggests?
